Ember Cabinet

Display: Make an obvious display or exhibition of something in a place easily seen. Create a show, performance or an event. This object and it’s components were developed to challenge what people normally think of as comfortable when using and therefore, experiencing a piece of furniture. When I think of comfort in relation to this cabinet I’m not thinking of ergonomics or plush upholstery. Instead, I’m envisioning a circle of friends that have been brought together to enjoy the heat and light that is radiating from a warm, glowing fire. The “Ember” cabinet has been produced to collect and contain this notion of “the fire”, the events that transpire around it and the memories that we will be left with once the fire goes out.
